A new adaptation of One Piece is set to redefine how audiences experience one of the most influential anime stories ever created. Seven Episode Season Reimagines East Blue with Experienced Creative Team

Season 1 will feature 7 episodes with a combined runtime of about 300 minutes, all released simultaneously. The story will focus on the East Blue saga, covering roughly the first 50 chapters of the manga. This portion of the narrative introduces Monkey D. Luffy and his early journey toward becoming King of the Pirates, including his meeting with Sanji at the Baratie. By condensing this arc, the remake offers a more accessible way to experience the foundational moments of the series without the time commitment required by the original anime.

The creative team behind the project brings significant experience from major anime productions. Direction is handled by Masashi Koizuka, known for his work on Attack on Titan, while Hideaki Abe serves as assistant director. The script is overseen by Taku Kishimoto, whose credits include Haikyu!! and Ranking of Kings. Character design duties fall to Kyoji Asano and Takatoshi Honda, both recognized for their ability to deliver expressive and dynamic animation.

A Modern Adaptation Expanding One Piece’s Legacy for New and Returning Fans

This remake is not intended to replace earlier versions of the franchise. Instead, it complements the long-running anime produced by Toei Animation as well as Netflix’s live-action series. Studio leadership has acknowledged that the original anime’s length and older 4:3 format may be less appealing to newer viewers, which makes a modern adaptation an effective way to broaden the audience.
