Shinpei Nagai, the newly announced director for One Punch Man Season 3, recently spoke out to manage fan expectations. In a detailed reply on X (formerly Twitter), he acknowledged that the upcoming season may not reach the same acclaimed level as the first season, while urging fans to respect the work and effort of the production team.
Acknowledging Staff Effort
Nagai emphasised that Season 3 reflects the dedication, creativity, and hard work of Studio J.C. Staff, despite limited funding compared to larger corporations. “I believe I have prepared myself with the meaning and resolve required to carry the legacy of the work you all hold so dear. It probably won’t reach the level of Season 1. But the film is imbued with the tenacity and ingenuity of its creators. Please, at least acknowledge that,” he wrote.
He also highlighted the studio’s ongoing efforts to improve working conditions and nurture talent, noting that supporting smaller studios is essential for maintaining quality and sustainable production.

Production Challenges and Workflow
Questions about Studio J.C. Staff’s ability to deliver Season 3 have been frequent among fans. Nagai previously shared plans to integrate 2D and 3D animation more efficiently to optimise production under tight schedules. He stressed that this approach is intended to balance creativity with practicality, ensuring the anime meets high standards despite resource constraints.
Plea to Stop Online Harassment
The director concluded his post with a heartfelt plea for fans to cease harassment. He asked the community to refrain from continuously questioning him about aspects covered by NDAs. “Please, stop the harassment and stop continuously asking questions that I cannot answer due to NDAs. I’m begging you, please,” Nagai wrote.
Context and Upcoming Release
The announcement of Nagai as director and the lack of early promotional materials sparked debates within the fandom. However, the director’s transparency highlights the challenges of producing a high-profile anime under tight schedules and limited resources. One Punch Man Season 3 is scheduled to premiere on October 5, 2025, and fans can expect an anime that honours the series’ legacy while reflecting the dedication of its creators.
Looking Ahead
While expectations are high, Season 3 will showcase Studio J.C. Staff’s ingenuity and resilience. Fans are encouraged to appreciate the effort behind the scenes and approach the release with respect for the team. Nagai’s message underscores the importance of community support in ensuring a positive environment for anime production.
