GLASGOW, JUNE 20th 2025 – Anime Limited are thrilled to announce a season of 4K re-releases exploring the earliest works in the unforgettable film catalogue of Mamoru Hosoda. Audiences will be able to watch The Girl Who Leapt Through Time, Summer Wars, and Wolf Children on the big screen – for the first time in stunning 4K – in cinemas across the UK and Ireland this summer.
The season kicks off with The Girl Who Leapt Through Time, screening in cinemas on the 6th and 8th of July, before moving through Hosoda’s filmography to Summer Wars, which screens on the 3rd and 5th of August, and then on to Wolf Childen on August the 17th and 19th.
A champion of both film as a medium and bringing people to cinemas, Hosoda’s work often explores fantastical themes whilst being heavily influenced by his own personal life experiences. This combination of imaginative and gripping storytelling with exceptionally emotive and in-depth characters has generated a dedicated fanbase of Mamoru Hosoda’s work.
Following these theatrical releases, all three films will be released on Collector’s Edition Blu-ray + 4K UHD Blu-ray, allowing you to relive the magic whenever you want in your home, and in unparalleled quality. All three films will also be available across digital EST platforms at a future date. More details on the home video releases of these films will follow later this summer.
Mamoru Hosoda’s films have all been nominated for the Japan Academy Prize for “Animation of the Year”, with 5 wins. 2018 marked his first Oscar nomination with Mirai, with both Mirai and BELLE having their world premieres at the Cannes Film Festival.
