TOKYOPOP is expanding its Girls Love (GL) catalog with the launch of Ayaka Is in Love With Hiroko, a new workplace romantic comedy released under the company’s LoveLove imprint.
The series, created by popular Twitter artist Sal Jiang, centers on two coworkers who are secretly infatuated with one another, while each mistakenly believes their feelings are unrequited. Volume 1 is now available in print and digital editions through major retailers, and can also be purchased directly from TOKYOPOP at:
Ayaka Is in Love With Hiroko Volume 1
The 162-page first volume carries a suggested retail price of $13.99 (ISBN: 9781427884893) and is recommended for readers ages 13 and up. Volume 2 is scheduled to debut on April 21.
Ayaka Is in Love With Hiroko follows Ayaka, who is passionately and unapologetically in love with her senior colleague, Hiroko. Despite her persistent efforts to gain her attention, the poised and professional Hiroko never seems to recognize her subordinate’s feelings.
At the same time, Hiroko is not openly out at work, even though she is known as a womanizer within the local lesbian community. Her carefully maintained professionalism begins to unravel when Ayaka starts getting noticeably closer, while Hiroko remains convinced that Ayaka is straight.
Sal Jiang is known for contemporary, stylish GL/Yuri manga that explore layered adult relationships and distinctive narrative setups. The series was originally serialized online through Futabasha’s Web Comic Action from June 2020 through March 2023. A live-action television drama adaptation premiered in July 2024.
