‘Sentenced to Be a Hero’ Previews Episode 10 With Trailer and First Look

The TV anime Sentenced to Be a Hero has released new promotional material for its upcoming episode, including a trailer, summary, and preview stills for Episode 10.

Based on the popular dark fantasy light novel series written by Rocket Shokai and illustrated by MEPHISTO, the series has gained significant recognition since its debut. The original novel received multiple accolades, including honors in the Kakuyomu Awards, the Tsugirano Awards, and a ranking in This Light Novel Is Amazing! 2023.

Episode 10 of the anime, titled “Sentence: Aid in Evacuation of Ioff Cheg Port 1,” continues the story following the aftermath of the incident at Sodrick. According to the newly released synopsis, the port city of Ioff comes under attack by faeries. The Coral Tower known as Tui Jia is seized, putting the entire port area within enemy firing range. As the situation escalates, protagonist Xylo and the group of penal “heroes” are tasked with defending the most dangerous sector of the port, placing them directly on the front lines of the conflict.

Sentenced To Be A Hero Episode 12 is set to premiere on March 12 at 6 p.m. Pacific Time.

The episode’s script was written by Kenta Ihara, with storyboards handled by Shunsuke Machiya. Direction duties were shared by Fumiaki Usui and Shunsuke Machiya, while Masaru Obata, Chikashi Kadekaru, and Yasutaka Kimura served as chief animation directors. A large team of animators contributed to the episode’s production, reflecting the scale and intensity of the upcoming battle sequence.

An online trailer previewing the episode has also been released through the official KADOKAWA Anime YouTube channel, giving fans a first look at the next stage of the story.

The anime itself is set in a grim fantasy world where criminals are sentenced to serve as “Heroes,” a punishment that forces them into a brutal military unit fighting against a demonic threat known as the Demon Blight. These convicts cannot escape their duty, even death offers no release, as they are resurrected to continue fighting.

The story centers on Xylo Forbartz, a former leader of the Order of the Holy Knights who now commands a penal unit made up of condemned soldiers. Amid the chaos of war, he encounters Teoritta, one of the world’s most powerful weapons. As Xylo seeks survival and revenge against those who betrayed him, he forms a pact with a mysterious goddess, plunging deeper into a war filled with intrigue and desperate battles.

The anime features a voice cast including Yohei Azakami as Xylo Forbartz, Mayu Iizuka as Teoritta, Shizuka Ishigami as Patausche Kivia, and Shun Horie as Dotta Luzulas. Additional cast members include Shunichi Toki, Yoji Ueda, Yoshitsugu Matsuoka, Jun Fukushima, Shoya Chiba, Yoko Hikasa, Yuichi Nakamura, and Saori Onishi.

The series is directed by Hiroyuki Takashima, with series composition by Kenta Ihara. Character design is handled by Takeru Noda, while animation production is managed by Studio KAI. The theme song, “Kill the Noise,” is performed by the rock band SPYAIR.

With the release of the new trailer and preview information, anticipation is building for Episode 10 as the anime continues to expand its intense story of condemned heroes battling against overwhelming odds.
