Actor Yun Ji On has publicly apologized and withdrawn from the upcoming Channel A drama “Positively Yours” after being caught driving under the influence (DUI) earlier this week.
According to a report by News1, Yun Ji On was booked by police on September 16 for drunk driving, prompting the production team of Positively Yours to remove him from the cast.
The drama, which is based on a popular webtoon, had already begun filming when the incident occurred.
Agency Response and Contract Status
Yun Ji On’s former agency, IEUM HASHTAG, confirmed the DUI report and clarified that their exclusive management contract with the actor had expired on July 6.

Although they had continued to support him temporarily during his transition between agencies, they emphasized that they no longer hold exclusive rights to represent him.

“It is true that Yun Ji On was caught by police for drunk driving on September 16. As a result, he has stepped down from Channel A’s new drama Positively Yours,” the agency stated.
Yun Ji On’s Public Apology
Shortly after the news broke, Yun Ji On took to social media to share a personal apology, expressing remorse for his actions.
“While heavily intoxicated to the point that I could not even remember my actions, I made the grave mistake of unlawfully riding a parked motorcycle,” he wrote.
He admitted to all charges, noted that he is cooperating fully with the investigation, and offered a heartfelt apology to fans, viewers, and colleagues.
“Because of my reckless actions, I have hurt and disappointed many people who supported me. I truly have no excuse. I sincerely apologize. I will live with regret and remorse for the rest of my life.”
Career Impact and Drama Recasting
Yun Ji On’s removal from Positively Yours comes at a crucial time, as the show was already underway in production.
The drama’s team has reportedly begun editing out his scenes and is now recasting the role with a new actor.
This marks a significant setback for the actor, who gained recognition through roles in series like “Jirisan,” “Melo Is My Nature,” and “Love Next Door.”
He debuted in theater in 2013 and has built a steady presence in both supporting and lead roles in recent years.
Public Reaction and Industry Consequences
DUI incidents are taken seriously in South Korea’s entertainment industry, often leading to loss of roles, sponsorships, and public backlash.
Fans and netizens have responded with disappointment, citing not just the legal implications but also the safety risks and damaged trust caused by such behavior.
Many viewers have also expressed concern for the production team behind Positively Yours, as reshoots and casting adjustments will inevitably delay progress and affect budget planning.
What’s Next for Yun Ji On?
With his reputation currently under scrutiny, Yun Ji On faces an uncertain future in the entertainment industry.
Although his apology has been acknowledged by some as sincere, the consequences—both legally and professionally—are expected to be significant.
As of now, he has not signed with a new agency, and it remains to be seen whether he will be able to resume his acting career after this scandal.
Stay tuned for updates on the recasting of Positively Yours and the ongoing investigation surrounding this incident.
