Netflix’s Original Series Mercy for None Starring So Ji Sub Gains High Anticipation Ahead of Release

The highly anticipated Netflix original series Mercy for None, starring So Ji Sub, is already generating significant buzz ahead of its official release.

As per the “OTT K-Original Content Viewer Evaluation Report” for the third week of May 2025, the series ranks high in viewer interest and awareness.

Mercy for None follows Gi Jun (played by So Ji Sub), a former gang member who returns to the underworld after the death of his younger brother, Gi Seok (played by Lee Jun Hyuk).

The drama, based on a popular Naver webtoon, is an action-packed revenge noir thriller that delves into the brutal and intense world of gang warfare, featuring graphic violence and high-stakes action.

The series is rated R (19+) due to its violent and intense content.

The early promotional materials, including a preview video and teaser, have garnered millions of views, indicating the show’s massive potential.

In the drama’s world, two factions—Juwon and Bongsan—play key roles, and the plot follows the unraveling of their power struggles after Gi Seok’s death.

So Ji Sub’s return to the action genre, after a 13-year break since A Company Man, has also fueled excitement among fans.

The series’ cast includes Heo Jun Ho, portraying the Juwon organization’s leader, and Choo Young Woo, who plays Juwon’s son, a prosecutor now distanced from the gang world. Other key cast members include Jo Han Chul and Lee Jun Hyuk.

Mercy for None will premiere on Netflix on June 6, 2025, and is expected to draw a large audience, particularly as more webtoon and web novel adaptations continue to capture public interest in both films and dramas.
